    The goal The objective of this course is to familiarize students with academic and scholarly research methods and writing practices at the postgraduate and doctoral levels.
    The outcome Students will become able to independently search for and gather relevant material, locate documentation and evidence, and write scholarly work at the postgraduate and doctoral levels.
    Contents
    Contents of lectures Select and formulate topics for scholarly work. Conduct research in libraries and archives: research libraries and archival collections. Bibliographies: alphabetical (Latin and Cyrillic), chronological, by author, subject, description, element, selection, critical, personal, primary, secondary, reference lists, annotated. Library catalogs. Databases. General and specialized manuals. Selection and use of literature and other sources. Methods of collecting, organizing, and analyzing sources. Compiling bibliographies for a research project. Scholarly manuscripts. Outline and research plans for papers, and final drafts. Manuscript documentation for manuscripts: citations, footnotes, indexes, and appendices. Technical aspects of producing manuscripts. Transcription and transliteration. Thesis presentation and/or defense.
    Contents of exercises Formulate topics for scholarly work. Rationale for thesis and an outline. Compile chronological and alphabetical bibliographies. Research in an online library. Analysis and excerpts of materials from primary and secondary sources.
