    The goal Objective of the course: Acquiring basic theoretical knowledge of classical rhetoric with stylistics, as well as practicing students’ rhetorical prowess in the domain of written and spoken word (oratory and rhetoric).
    The outcome Student has acquired general theoretical base of the art of rhetoric and oratory, and has also attained ability to practically apply taught skills.
    Contents
    Contents of lectures Terms rhetoric and oratory; historical overview of development of rhetoric. Elements of classical rhetoric (rhetor, speech, auditorium). Materia artis, partes artis: inventio, dispositio, elocutio, memoria, actio: vox, corpus. Speech-act theory in practice. Officia Oratoris. Rhetoric-style-stylistics. Genus subtile, genus medium, genus grande.
    Contents of exercises Improvisation, speech: ex tempore, impromptu. Rhetorical exercises (progymnasmata).
