    The goal Overview of the main stylistic formations and periods, such as Classicism, Preromanticism, Romanticism, and Realism. Learning about their genres and innovations, concerning the South Slavic and European context. Reception of the classical poetics, as well as the German, Hungarian, English, Russian, and French literary traditions.
    The outcome Learning outcomes of the course: Students are expected to adopt comparative aspects of the 19th century Serbian modern literature, with an emphasis on national particularities. They are observing Serbian literature in its diachronical spirit, as well as perceiving the reception of poetic paradigms, ideas and procedures of works that come from European literature.

    Contents of lectures Preromanticism and romanticism in Southslavic and European context (national particularities, genres, verse and couplet, representatives): B. Radicevic, J. Jovanovic Zmaj, D. Jaksic. D. Marinkovic Koder, L. Kostic (selected poetry and dramatic works). Poetry of V. Ilic. Novel, short story, novella, memoirs, travelogue, prose poem.
