      The goal Clarification of the principles and methods of historical linguistics. Presentation of linguistic traditions and changes/innovation.
      The outcome By all-rounded presentation of language changes, the creation of historical (diachronic) point of view, what is the fundamental element of research in historical linguistics.

      Contents of lectures The concept of the history of language. The question of cognate languages. Language changes and the system of languages. The principle of regularity in sound changes. Causes and aims of languae changes. Sociolinguistic aspects of language changes. The question of periods in the history of language. The creation of standard language. Methods of historical analysis. Sources of historical linguistics.
