    The goal Introduction to selected major general linguistic theories.
    The outcome The student knows and can interpret critically the selected important general linguistic theories, as well as literature about them.

    Contents of lectures Structural and Contextual Paradigm - Selected Topics: I. 1. The Theory of Scientific Paradigms (Complementarity of Theoretical Scientific Explanations), 2. De Sosier's Paradigm, 3. Jakobson Paradigm, 3. Semiology, 4. The Philosophy of Ordinary Speech and Theory of Speech Speeches (Austin, Serl), 5. Contextual systemic linguistics (British), 6. Bernstein's theory of language, 7. Ethnography of communication (Haimz), 8. Sociology of language and Sociolinguistics, 9. Language planning and Language policy, 10. Semantics and Pragmatics, 11. Rhetoric , 12. cognitive sciences; II. 1. Theories about nature, origin and development of language (speech) ability and human symbolic power in general, 2. Biological and physiological basis of language (speech): linguistics and paleolinguistics; 3. Theory of verbal and non-verbal communication.
