    The goal Preview of the leading periods and movements in the Slovenian literaure (XIX and XX century) and their most prominent representatives. Study of manifestos, poetry, prose, drama and criticism.
    The outcome Students must be prepared to interprete literary texts in comparative and contrastive ways both in diachronical and synchronical aspect, especially in context of Southslavic and European cultural and poetical tradition.
    Contents
    Contents of lectures Periodization of the Slovenian literature (XIX and XX century). Period, stylistic formation, movement; Romanticism, Realism, Symbolism and Modernism, Avantgarde (Expressionism), New and Social Realism. Literature after 1950 till present days.
    Contents of exercises Text interpretation. Poetry: from France Prešeren, Josip Murn, Srečko Kosovel to contemporary poets. Prose: novel, short prose, story. From Simon Jenko, Fran Levstik, Ivan Cankar, Slavko Grum, Vitomil Zupan. Drama: from Cankar to Dominik Smole and Dušan Jovanović. Criticism; from I. Prijatelj to D. Pirjevec, J. Kos, M. Juvan.
