The goal |
The aim of the course is to improve students' skills related to recognition, comprehension and solving of basic translation problems in reference to written translations of simple but also more complex specialized texts in the filed of law, finances, tourism, medicine etc. In addition to that, the aim of the course is to equip students with specific skills and competences to deal with various problems that occur as a result of different types of equivalence on the syntactic, semantic, and pragmatic level. Students will learn how to use and apply different translation strategies. also, the aim is to develop a critical attitude towards their own and other people's translations and the ability to justify their solutions. |
The outcome |
At the end of the course, students will be able to analyse a whole range of different text types and translate them on one of the target languages; they will be able to solve translation problems using adequate translation techniques and strategies, critically assess and evaluate the adequacy of the applied techniques in their own and other people's translations. |
