    The goal Introduction to the theory and practice of literary translation, deepening the knowledge of Hungarian and Serbian literary translation. Improvement of skills related to translation and acquainting fundamental translator techniques, their practical usage. Understand the differences and similarities of the Hungarian and Serbian languages (lexical, syntactic) and cultures. Get an insight into dictionaries, handbooks and other appliances necessary for the literary translator work, orientating in the fundamental literature.
    The outcome Proficiency in the practice of literary translation, in the assessment of literary translations, in the comparison of the primary and the target language. Expansive professional and cultural knowledge, awareness of the cultural and literary life of the source language and target language countries.
    Contents
    Contents of lectures Literary translation and translation studies. Classical and modern theories of literary translation. Hungarian literary translation literature. Hungarian‒South Slavic literary translation. Translation as “cultural practice”. The role of literary translation. The question of translatability. Translation and interpretation, translation as re-writing. The problems of translation of literary texts with different genre. Folk poetry and children’s literature translation. Translation and canon formation. Comparative literary studies, intertextuality and translation. Compiling. Intercultural communication. Application of informational technology in translation. Translation criticism.
    Contents of exercises On-site translation of different genre texts, analysis and comparison of the translations; analysis, comparison of literary translations published (Hungarian‒Serbian/Serbian‒Hungarian), compiling of certain parts. Writing literary translation criticism.
