    The goal The aim of the course is to give to the students the basic knowledge on the issues Rural Sociology deals with, on the main theoretical concepts and on the basic results of empirical studies. The aim is also to develop a specific sociological way of thinking, especially on rural issues, in order to contribute actively to reflecting and undertaking social changes.
    The outcome The students know the basic notions used by Rural Sociology, they know the key theoretical concepts and the basic results of empirical studies. They can understand the most importanst rural issues and they can actively contributed to solving rural problems.

    Contents of lectures Introduction - Rural Sociology in Serbia - Basic theoretica and methodological concepts - Rural Urban differences - Agrarian and rural social structure - Rural, peasantry and agriculture in historica perspective - History of rural areas in Serbia - Peasant economy and changes of agrarian structure - Social institutions, organisations and social groups in rural areas - Agrarian reforms and colonisation - Socialism and peasantry in Yugoslavia - Rural and postsocialistic transformation - Rural, agriculture and EU - Future of rural areas and of agriculture
    Contents of exercises Students projects are presented and discussed. Special attention is given to the contect of aplicative character.
