    The goal Introduction to the exploration of the cultural production of the English speaking world, based on the study of three major textual patterns related to mass media (television/film), advertising industry and new media.
    The outcome Students will be able to produce semiotic analyses of different textual materials and to present their research in various formats.
    Contents
    Contents of lectures Culture and identity, popular culture/high culture opposition, consumer society, television, advertising, target audience. Digital culture. Urban space as cultural space. Language and popular culture.
    Contents of exercises Reading and critical commentary about the texts from the reading list. Planning a research project. Formal presenting in different formats.
